I’m hoping it will snow again so the kids can miss school. This was nice, but almost a waste since it happened on a Saturday, and they have Mon off anyway.

Isn’t it pretty, though? Too bad JB took down the lights last week, it would have looked super festive and Christmasey if we had still had them up.

So this was my favorite float at the parade, since it was the kind of float people put work into, instead of just throwing a bunch of money at it. Homemade, in a good way. The sound effects were great, with tornado sirens and thunder sounds.

So there are new pictures, if you go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/superjen/

Hope everyone had a great day off!

I went to see the Tour de Georgia bike race go by, since it was coming so close to our house anyway. It was neat where I was, since so few people were there. The road was quiet except for the helicopters above and state troopers going by with their lights flashing. Right before the bikes, they started announcing and then the riders all flew by so fast I could hardly see them. I was in the median of the parkway, and felt like I could have stuck out my hand and touched them they were so close. It took the riders about 2 seconds to pass me, and then it took all the support cars a few minutes to go by. I think there were 2 or 3 cars per bike!

The weird looking duck on the left is one that was in the local paper. He’s been hanging around with Mama duck and the three babies – I wonder if he’s the dad? They are super cute. I’ll try for a picture in the morning when the light is better, JB got this one today.

JB and Sean on the Wave, trying to sail around but fighting all the wind.

There’s nothing like seeing someone actually getting out on the water to get people talking about boats – most of us just walk around the edges, and don’t get on the water. Several people saw me taking pictures and asked about the boat. I’ll go with them when it warms up a little more!

I saw these when I was driving down Hippocket – everything is acting like it’s spring already. As soon as my rosebush puts out buds, it’s guaranteed to snow.

Aren’t they pretty though? I don’t feel bad about putting away Christmas when it feels like spring outside. I remember calling my Grandma years ago when it was like this, bragging about raking leaves in shorts in January. They had been shoveling snow off the driveway and weren’t amused one bit.

JB had the great idea to rent a kayak that seats two – we’ll use it a lot tomorrow but we just went around half the lake to see how it is. I want to buy one now – it was so easy to throw it on the roof of the Swedish Behemoth and go. We were in water that was only about two feet deep at times, but it held up just fine. A radio and a cooler is all we need to bring next time and it’ll be perfect.

The lake cop came by and asked about lifejackets – what a great job. Cruise around and check for lifejackets and drunks, work on the tan. Where do I sign up for that?
